The Grass is Greener
02:02
|
|||
have you heard our last cd
victims of a mockery
gather 'round
we'll talk about it
get the word out
it's not outstanding
but more exactly
like this song you're hearing now
in the case that you hate it
i know they'll exchange it
at the pawn shop downtown
but few of you out there i know
find comfort in songs like our own
and of course it's for you whom we compose
(hey hey)
and if it's your first time then please
i suggest you press stop then proceed
first with Victims of a Mockery
you may be confused
i'll do my best to assure that you understand
what you're listening to
take my hand
these are the outtakes
some call them mistakes
the darker half of the ride
you'll find it much cleaner
the grass is much greener
on the other side
if you've made it this far
there's nothing i can do no more
don't say i
didn't warn you
enjoy the ride

More than a Moral
02:26
|
|||
i've taken a turn
'bout 20 clicks or more off track and counting
this state of denial
has lasted awhile but i've finally got a hold of something
i know there's more than a moral
but i can't explain it
6 years of bitching and it's finally come out
who would've known it's the exact opposite
of everything you've ever thought that you felt
so now i'm just a hypocrite
and everything i wrote
no longer means a thing to me
i call this place my home
i've planned an escape
'bout 20 times but only twice succeeded
a treasure behold
not one piece of gold
escaping wasn't what i needed
but tomorrow we'll see
will it feel the same next week
the mind's always changing and why
can it never be satisfied
(satisfied)

Quitter
03:18
|
|||
i apologize for every time
i give my wing to a hitter
neglecting the most important things in life
to me
all i want from you
my friend is for you
to get back on the horse that you fell off before
'cuz i know what you've got in you
don't you cry so loud
put the white flags down
but don't stop cuz you quitters never can be winners
(as we all know)
i can't stand back here watching you destroy your liver
(as do we all)
i don't think that you realize you're a home run hitter
(as we all know)
so get back up and finish what you put together
together
whoah
i recall the day
when you would tell
whatever it was to get the hell out of the way
but now the new results are in
in all honesty
i still believe
you've got a piece of that person
rolled up in your sleeve
so let the magic show begin
where did the things that you love go
when you took it upon yourself to crush 'em up and throw 'em away
(i looked through the trash
but alls i found was a stash
of all these dirty syringes and a bag of some leftover cocaine)
i've never been there before
but there's more love for you here
than there'll ever be there for you
at the bottom of a trash pail

Problems Over Rye
02:14
|
|||
i realized sometime last night when
discussing with my friends
my problems over rye
that suddenly all 3 peaced out and
i started to suspect that i'm the reason why
a failure to include
a mention of departure
excuse me but that's rude
and i'm the one to blame for my
lame attempt to entertain
social acceptance
for me goes hand in hand with brewsky and a lime
and i'll admit under influence
rarely can i resist the urge to switch to rye
i'm diagnosed with the
only disease you can be mad at me for having
and i'm convinced that i've
summed up this problem in the last minute twenty five
i'm diagnosed with the
only disease you can be mad at me for having
and i'm convinced that i've
summed up this problem in the last minute thirty five
i do it to myself
some sort of sick self entertainment
i do it for myself
so be it as the band comes first
i'm required to quench my thirst
sometime tonight i'll
be thinking to myself my problems over rye
and i'll enjoy my time there meanwhile
my friends are having fun without me
in denial
i do it for myself

Sticks and Needles
02:04
|
|||
cross my heart
(hope to die)
stick a needle in my eye
trust me
everything you share
i'll keep it locked away
inside me
despite that
which other people say
you'll find my shoulder quite inviting
but frankly i'm bored
with the concept of hoarding
a thought screaming for some revealing
if i say those words at least no one can blame me
word gets around
what goes up will one day come crashing down
as they say
first betrayal leads to the second round
tell me something else
but believe me
i'll be the last one laughing
as if anyone's like me
i'm the worst for revealing
my own secrets i try to keep
but slip out when i'm drinking

Get Out Sid
02:16
|
|||
this place you're at
your habitat
they're gunna tear it down
so get out get out sid
you'll see 'em try
and buy the land
on which you stand your ground
don't get out get out sid
taking their time
similar to a robbery
but where you now reside
you'll find you're saying goodbye
hence i
would like to show my sympathies
by a melodic means
i know you're doing alright
i understand a possession that you prize
can take a tole when the owner is the wrong guy
so don't forget what you rightfully own
assuming that you've read The Count of Monte Cristo
why can't we all just have a good time
i know the words shit and candy don't rhyme
so she's on her feet
and looking back
they thought they got off clean ya
but sadie doesn't like that

Sold Independently
02:04
|
|||
everything i hear and see
i find myself for it'll never find me
whether you sell from a store or
from door to door
you'll never sell what i need
and if it's not sold independently
you'll never get a stinking dime from me
w w w dott
i think i'll save my cash but thanks a lot
why don't you go sue someone's grandma
multiply a thousand by the songs
that i have stolen in a lifetime
this figure couldn't be done
even if we won
the lotto 649
still if it's not sold independently
you'll never get a stinking dime from me
w w w dott
i think i'll save my cash but thanks a lot
why don't you go sue someone's grandpa
help out the independent artists
by not suing all their friends and fans
of all forms of government funding
they passed a law which in turn
makes us all look band
and nor would it surprise us
if mp3's were made illegal just to have
if ancient politicians get their way
i guess i'll see you on the inside
for every prison we have
a dozen we'll need
to accomodate everybody
and if it's not sold independently
you'll never get a stinking dime from me
w w w dott
i think i'll save my cash but thanks a lot
why don't you go sue more randoms dott com

Mosq-Veto
02:23
|
|||
ever since i was kid
i thought the outdoors were meant for me
and that's not true
because wherever i went
it's like mosquitos were bound to be
and then they'd use me as a liquid dispenser
and i'm not here to fucking feed all their kids
in fact i refuse
their time's depleting
and before i bid them all farewell
i want 'em to know
i've got this feeling
we're sending them all straight back to hell
what conservationist would
wanna ruin it for the rest of us
well maybe you
but think how peaceful it'd be
if there were nothing to bother us
and then you too
could for once enjoy the sunset
or maybe get a decent sleep in the night
how could you refuse
remember these enemies
in winter freeze cryogenically
and then return
to terrorize in the spring
could we defeat all infinity
it almost seems
like an impossible feat but
i'm hoping science and the military
prevail defeat

Lesson Learnt
02:21
|
|||
don't wanna be a target for that injury
that's getting lonely
i long the day where i wake up and realize
i can no longer see
is there really a need
for all this sympathy
can i
please have another drink
i'm not afraid to see
why i
am suffering by morning
cuz some stupid thing i did last evening
i do regret it but i can't expect to be
someone with perfect knees
but why so soon
i can't stop these limber limbs
from turning so black and blue
well i think i've learned a lesson here
if i'm ever reincarnated
think i'll wear protective gear ya
na na na na na na na na
na na na na na
don't wanna be the only one
who's paralyzed piggy back riding
or jumping out of third floor windows
hoping i will get a laugh or 3
is there really a need
for all this sympathy
can i
please have another drink
i'm not afraid to see
why i
am waking up with toilet bowls
in front of me early this morning
i do regret it but i can't expect to live
to one hundred and three
oh we oh we na na na na na na na
